Luna Splendida and W.I.N Hellas join forces to raise awareness against the abuse of women.

At Luna Splendida, we always aim to do much more than just create beautiful lingerie or swimwear. We strive to bring change, give a voice to those who need it, and raise awareness of important and timely issues. To that end, we are partnering again this year with W.I.N Hellas to support women who need help and contribute to the fight against female abuse.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is symbolically “celebrated” every year on 25 November, we at Luna Splendida wanted the whole month of November to remind us of the need for awareness and mobilization against all forms of violence.

So this year our action starts in a special way – every box in our e-shop will have phrases commonly used by abusers against their victims on it. Phrases that are shocking, such as: “I was joking, I didn’t mean it like that” ή “You made me act like that.“, ” Sorry, I had a little too much to drink. It won’t happen again. “. These harsh words, when you see them printed on a simple package, are riveting.
The selection of these phrases was made with the help of W.I.N Hellas – the NGO dedicated to the support and protection of women. With these messages, we invite all our customers to stop for a moment, think and reflect on how important it is that this type of behaviour is not tolerated.

At the same time, each box includes the email address of W.I.N. Hellas, providing access to information and support to those who seek it. Our aim is to let women in particular know that help is out there and that they are not alone.

In addition, from the 1st to the 15th of November 2024, we will support this action by offering 10% of our eshop’s revenue to W.I.N. Hellas. Thus, every purchase will not only be a product choice, but also a contribution towards supporting women who need help, protection or simply information.

At Luna Splendida, we cannot accept silence as a solution. Our goal is to speak, to awaken and to inspire!

Definition of violence

Violence against women is a global, timeless phenomenon based on gender discrimination. Violence against women includes any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm or suffering to women. It also includes threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life. (1)

Therefore, it includes:
1. Violence within the family (domestic violence/visible violence).
2. Violence in society in general (rape, sexual abuse, sexual harassment at work, trafficking, stalking).

This is a violation of human rights. It is a flagrant violation of the right to life, human freedom, mental and physical integrity, equal treatment and protection under the law.
